I am a clinical social worker licensed in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I earned my Bachelor’s degree
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my Master in Social Work at Temple University in Philadelphia. I have worked
in this practice since 1988 and I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with a group of intelligent, dedicated, and compassionate
professionals. During my internship in college I began working with adolescents involved in the court/legal system.
I did an internship in graduate school in the medical field, working with patients facing illness and loss. I then was
employed in a hospital setting where I was able to work with children, adolescents, and adults. I worked in an outpatient
family agency outside of Boston where I began doing couples therapy as well.
During the past 38 years in the field, I have felt a strong sense of privilege
in working with the many clients I have met with over these years. It takes a great deal of strength to walk into a
therapist’s office and I have great respect for clients who take this step in trying to improve and enrich their lives.
In my work, I view my relationship with my client(s) as a partnership, and I work with my client(s) on issues that they identify
as important to them. I continue to be in awe of the work that people are able to do in psychotherapy.
I see clients ranging from age four
to elderly. I often work with parents of young children to help them with parenting challenges as well as with creating
behavioral management plans. I see many adolescents struggling with identity, family, academic, peer and behavioral
issues, as well as with diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. An area of my practice that has grown
most recently is my work with court-ordered co-parenting therapy. I welcome the opportunity to help couples who have
been divorced work together to parent their children and to increase their ability to communicate effectively with one another.
Along with this, I do a lot of couples therapy with couples who are involved in conflictual relationships.
With my 38 years of providing counseling
and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, families and couples, I bring to my profession an enriching professional
life filled with continuing education, training and peer supervision. I have training and experience in psychodynamic,
cognitive-behavioral and family systems approaches to treatment and will integrate these approaches to best meet the needs
of each client. I would be happy to set up an initial consultation to understand your situation and your needs, and work with
you to provide the best options for you, your child and your family.
I have earned the
advance status of Diplomate in Clinical Social Work by The Academy of Certified Social Workers. I am also a member of
the National Association of Social Workers.
